WEDDING PLANNING TIPS:Wedding Tips

Wedding table linen choices

When you are planning your wedding consider the many possible colors available to you for your wedding table linens, researching online is a good idea if you intend to use standard round tablecloths, there are many colors available and prices do vary greatly so research well before buying, and be sure to ORDER EARLY.

Keep in mind that you can also use table runners with bright colors to accent your decor. The size of your table linens and napkins will of course depend on the size of the table at your reception venue. Using dynamic tablecloth colors is a dramatic way to create the ambience and tone of your wedding reception room and is your opportunity to make a big personal statement with color, elegance and style.

How many table linen colors are available?

There are 22 individual colors available, and current popular wedding colors are white, black, black, ivory, and chocolate, consult with your wedding planner, hotel, or venue and choose table linen colors that work well in the room where you will be hosting the event. Make it a fun project and consider creative ideas such as matching your bridesmaid's outfits with elements of the room decor.

What table linen drop should I have?

The drop is the amount of tablecloth that hangs over the edge of the table. Many brides, grooms, and wedding planners like to see the table linens touch the floor, but others prefer a half-way "drop". as table linens can be too long and gather under the table. Check out this tablecloth sizes calculator.

Wedding reception venue lights

It is wise to consider any room lighting change that may occur during your event, many events begin when it's daylight and as the evening progresses electric lighting is switched on and this can color the room decor and in some cases can noticeably change the overall ambience and style of the room, the degree of change depends on the type of lighting so be sure to consult with your wedding planner or the venue staff, and if possible go to the venue and check it out for yourself.

Should I choose table runners or full length table linens?

If your wedding planner or venue will be providing tablecloths it is cheaper to just buy a suitable table runner. However, if no tablecloths are provided then you will need to buy both a tablecloth and the table runner or buy a full floor length tablecloth for each table. It is not just a matter of budget but also of having the "right look". Some people prefer the layered two tablecloth style while others prefer the smooth style of one tablecloth. Both ways are correct it's purely a matter of taste and style.

Will my wedding planner, caterer, or wedding reception venue, provide the table linens?

Many wedding planners, caterers, or wedding reception venues will furnish you with white table linens as part of an event package. You may be able to get a refund on some of your costs if you decide to not use their linens, but also keep in mind... "if" they have "exactly" what you want in the color and size you want then by all means use theirs. Keep in mind your wedding reception venue may call these table linens "house linens".

How many wedding guests will fit at my tables?

Standard table sizes for events are 60" inches round tables that normally seat 8 guests comfortably. 72" inch round tables will accomodate 10 to 12 guests. Ideally you should choose the lower number at the dinner table

Sometimes your wedding guests comfort can be sacrificed a little bit for a good reason, many times at weddings a group may want to sit together and they would like to be seated closer together than separated, or sometimes it depends on the size of the reception room and the number of wedding guests.

Sometimes the venue will only have one size table available or a set configuration of tables due to the room size and layout. The most important thing is to make your guests as comfortable as possible with the tables and space you have available.

80 guests sitting at 60 inch round tables can be either 8 tables of 10 guests or 10 tables of 8 guests.

160 guests sitting at 60 inch round tables can be either 16 tables of 10 guests or 20 tables of 8 guests.

Wedding Napkins

Wedding napkins are important as this is something your wedding guests will see up close and will touch often during the reception, so you do want to make a good impression with your napkins and we know this is important so you can be sure our napkin fabric is heavy enough to "hold a fold". Our wedding napkins fabric is exactly the same weight and color of fabric as our table linens. We would be glad to send you fabric swatches free of charge, contact us and request your fabric swatches.

Wedding Chair Covers and Organza Sashes

The "as is" chairs at your wedding reception venue may be what you want to use, however, if you decide (as most people do) the chairs withour covers are not suitable, try using chair covers. wedding chair covers and organza sashes are available in a variety of colors and styles and may easily solve any problem with the chairs. Make sure the chair covers you want actually fit the chairs your going to use and do you need folding chair covers or banquet chair covers.

Chairs and covers come in different sizes and do not always fit each other, it's better to find this out well before your event, also make sure the event caterer, planner, hotel or venue has the staff and have agreed to put the chair covers (and sashes) on and take them off after the event.

The alternative to chair covers is to rent a better chair, there are a wide range of chair styles and costs ranging from a basic plastic folding chair or higher end white wood folding chairs to very expensive banquet chairs. Keep in mind that the venue's existing chairs will have to be removed and stored and also put back after your event so allow for this labor cost in your budget.

Wedding Catering and Buffets

The catering buffet should always be styled with additional table linens. If the guest tables have upgraded linens then the buffet should be matched with the same or very similar style table linens. If you have plain house tablecloths on the guest tables then the catering buffet should be dressed with decorative table linens that match with the room. The buffet is of course about the food on the menu, but it is also about the overall presentation of the event room.

Wedding Gift Table Location

The location of the gift table varies and the location will determine the extent that it should be decorated. If it is in the main dining area then it should match or blend with the guest tables. If it's situated outside the main dining area then it should be dressed in a single tablecloth with minimum decorations.

Wedding Head Table Decorations

A head table if you choose to have one (most people do), this is the MOST important area of the reception as this is where the NEW BRIDE AND GROOM will sit, this table decoration MUST be 100% perfect and decorated to a much higher degree than your guest tables, at many weddings the new bride and groom have chairs specially decorated with fabric, flowers, garlands, or ribbons. Many people choose to have chair sashes with their names embroidered to have as a keepsake of their wedding day.

Cocktail Table Linens

Immediately make a personal statement with your cocktail area decor by choosing table linen that is classy, bright and an understated preview of your main reception room. If the cocktail and dining areas are visible to each other the table linens should be matched in style and color, but it's best not to over do it.

The result when all elements are combined is that the main room should produce the gasps of delight, the "Oohs" and "Aahs" that you deserve to hear from your lucky guests when "finally" those doors are opened and guests get to meet the new Mr & Mrs for the first time, it's a fantastic moment and one you will remember the rst of your life.. so be sure to make is very special.

You should have strong statements from your flower arrangements and your table linens, and also in the linen napkins and wedding favors that will be enjoyed by your guests after they take their seats.

The Wedding Cake Table

Wedding cake tables, usually a small round table from 30" inches (2 1/2 feet) wide to 48" inches (4 feet) across. It should be well decorated, but your wedding cake table does not need to be over-decorated or it will remove attention away from the wedding cake itself. The wedding cake table linen can be just a little shorter as most cake tables need to be easily moveable and they almost always have wheels and are easy to move.

Wedding Place Card Table

Place card tables are usually located in the reception venue lobby or entrance area or in the reception cocktail or bar area, for decoration try a single tablecloth that is either matched with the place cards, consider adding a large flower arrangement, but make sure that it's not too busy" or overflows the layout of the place cards.
